GitLab is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help own and refactor their authorization platform, focusing on Ruby on Rails and transitioning to a Rust-based engine. This is a fully remote role open to candidates in Canada, Israel, the UK, and the US.
In this role, you will design and implement complex authorization changes within the Rails monolith while migrating permissions to a new service-oriented architecture. You will work on fine-grained token permissions, custom roles, and API enforcement, collaborating with authentication and AI teams. The position requires a security-focused mindset and the ability to drive technical decisions through documentation and code reviews.
